Generation of second-harmonic beams with switchable curved trajectories

چکیده
Beamswhich follow curved trajectories are useful in a variety of applications, but up to now have been realized mainly in linear media. We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally the generation of second-harmonic (SH) beams which follow arbitrary convex caustic trajectories. These beams are created in a nonlinear photonic crystal with a second-order susceptibility having a tailored pattern; hence, the SH beam follows the desired trajectory after exiting the crystal. The same crystal can incorporate more than one trajectory, enabling the nonlinear creation of bottle beams as well as beams with switchable caustic trajectories that can be controlled by the phase-matching conditions. © 2017 Optical Society of America

Considerably Enhanced Second-Harmonic Generation in Resonant U-Shaped Nano-Structures
In this paper, we perform a detailed study of the spectral response of the gold U-shaped nano-structures for different geometrical parameters and polarizations in order to obtain significant localization factor in the wavelength 1.55 μm. The obtained near-field distribution of electric fields reveals that resonances in these nano-structures correspond to the even and odd plasmonic modes dependi...
متن کاملDirectly produced three-color entanglement by quasi-phase-matched third-harmonic generation.
A new scheme is presented to directly produce fundamental, second-, and third-harmonic three-color continuous-variable (CV) entangled beams by cascaded quasi-phase-matched third-harmonic generation (THG) in an optical cavity. THG can be achieved with high efficiency through a coupled sum-frequency process between the second-harmonic and the fundamental fields. It is demonstrated that the three ...
متن کاملCerenkov-type second-harmonic generation with fundamental beams of different polarizations.
We analyze the conical second-harmonic generation via Cerenkov-type phase matching in two-dimensional decagonal nonlinear photonic quasi-crystals for linear, circular, and elliptical polarized fundamental beams. Depending on the polarization state, we observe either centrosymmetric or noncentrosymmetric intensity modulation of the second-harmonic rings. We explain this effect by employing the c...
متن کاملInterference effects in second-harmonic generation within an optical cavity
An experiment is described that investigates certain interference effects for second-harmonic generation within a resonant cavity. By employing a noncollinear geometry, the phases of two fundamental beams from a frequencystabilized dye laser can be controlled unrestricted by the boundary conditions imposed in an optical cavity containing a KDP crystal and resonant at the second harmonic. The fu...
متن کاملStudy of the Transition to Instability in Second-Harmonic Generation with Scale Index Method
The emergence of second-harmonic generation (SHG) is a pivotal issue to the development of nano-optical devices and interfaces. Here, we perform a classical analysis of the SHG dynamics with the aim of determining critical values of the electric field. The signals of the SHG process are nonlinear, so it seems reasonable that chaos theory can be a suitable tool to analyze their dynamics. For thi...
